Sneak Peek - 'Moreland's Ball' 2012
Detail of an illustration for the cover of the second album by Melbourne gypsy band The Woohoo Revue. http://www.thewoohoorevue.com.au/photos.cfmThe concept behind Moreland's Ball is that each song on the track list is represented by a character (including Moreland himself) , each of whom is depicted in a ballroom scene dancing to the band's music.
There will be a well publicized release and national tour beginning in March, so I'll wait until after then to upload the rest.

David Wilson

Not one of my own unfortunately, but a drawing I purchased recently by the late David Brian Wilson. With tonalism so popular among students of classical drawing in recent times it is worth pondering the structural efficiency of this dynamic little foot study.

Jim

Jim's father Wayne helped me out with some renovations earlier in the year so I'm doing a portrait of Jim in return. He sat for a solid 3 hours for this drawing study.

Ella 16 months

These were done at a water park for kids which has been built in our local park. A painting of Ella made from these outings was a finalist in the Lethbridge 100000 Small Scale Art Award this year. http://www.brettlethbridge.com/10000_finalists_2011.php

Recent quick sketches

Done with a ballpoint pen on copy paper; not very archival I suspect! The poses themselves contribute a lot to how appealing the results are after a life-drawing session.

Student drawings, Ashtons '98 - '02

Still digging up the past, here are some life drawings from my student years at the Julian Ashton Art School (http://www.julianashtonartschool.com.au/). They aspire to emulate the likes of, among others, Ingre, George Lambert, William Dobell and the school's principal Paul Delprat (bearded portrait), who gave me a scholarship to study there in '98. It was the first time a person of influence had validated my urge to draw and become an artist.

Woohoo drawings

My first foray into digital art, these are the original pencil drawings for the album art on Melbourne gypsy band The WooHoo Revue's first album Dear Animals. My sister Beccy plays the violin and was a founding member of the group. http://www.myspace.com/thewoohoorevue
My mate Johannes got me started on the basics of photoshop once I'd done the drawings, and the whole process was heaps of fun and a real revelation for me. http://hannesleak.blogspot.com/
